weekend whoa

This weekend was a busy but fulfilling one. Pato spent most of the weekend working on our friend Allen's deck in his backyard and I attempted to tackle the fireplace room again. It's all moving along fairly well and I hope to get the rest of the ceiling painted as well as add some color to the walls this upcoming Memorial weekend. However, the difficult task of finishing the bookshelves came to a conclusion this weekend and I'm STOKED about it. It is so much nicer to look to the north side of our home while relaxing in the fireplace room.

So here is a quick weekend recap:

Voted early in the Election. You can find an early voting site near you by clicking here.

Went birthday gift shopping for a friend at Lilly Barrack and visited my good friend Jimmy! The store in the NE heights is amazing and they have some great priced jewelry. So, all you ladies out there looking to put some nice sparkle on and not hurt your wallet, I suggest you pay a visit to Lilly and ask for Jimmy.
Key necklace from Lilly Barrack that was a gift fom my friend Jimmy

Sunday it was Huevos Rancheros at Mannies with my love and O'Neill's with my parents in the evening. Pato was sweet enough to take my family and I out to O'Neill's and of course it was fantastic.

Alright here is the finished bookshelf revamp.

20 things to do before you're 30 update

Alright, So I'm off to an okay start with this list but I have a lot to do and I had to make a change on one the things on my list.    (which you can read by clicking here)

First off, the changes.

18. Hike the Grand Canyon and see The Waterfalls of Havasupai
I will not be traveling to Arizona or supporting anything that comes from there as long as their poorly written law SB 1070  is in effect. I am showing nothing but support for those hardworking immigrants who are undocumented and or people who are directly effected by this unconstitutional law.
  • I urge all my friends to help Albuquerque not turn into naziZONA by going and signing this petition. click here

 The update:
  • #4 ORGANIZE (we have a paper pile that we could use if we ever ran out of toilet paper) Has been taken care of. WE bought a file cabinet and a shredder and have put everything in it's proper place!
  • #7 Paint and decorate the TV room in our home (take all the random shit down) This one is currently in progress and is coming along famously
This is a glimpse of before. Dark, gross, and very ugly.

Painted white, cleaned and ready for re-organizing (More photos once the project is complete)

  • #23 Buy myself or someone else flowers every other month.
Curtis was the lucky guy in May!
flowers from the COOP

  • #20 Get at least 2 acrobatic moves down for Capoeira
I'm on a roll with this one! Yesterday I got my  Aú sem Mão (Cartwheel with no hands) and I'm close to getting my Macaco (back bend, kick over)

Aú sem Mão

Macaco em pé

I have a lot to do on the list but It's been a fun challenge so far! Finishing up the living room, hiking up the La Luz trail and getting the Macaco em pe move down for capoeira are next to be scratched off!!

More updates coming soon! I hope everyone is having a fantastic Wednesday!

    Needle me this

This weekend I was talking to Montse who was visiting from Portland for my sisters graduation and she was telling me about The Portland Acupuncture Project .
Now this is just cool! Portland is exploring the interface between art, regional planning, traditional Chinese medicine and the health of the city.

From the website of the Portland Acupuncture Project:
Unfolding over the course of 2010, this 6-month art installation will coincide with a series of public workshops to help steer the Portland Plan, a guide for the city's growth over the next 25 years.  Needles appearing across the city will bring attention to the some of the city's most challenging problems, greatest assets, as well as places with enormous potential.

This Project is so fascinating! Visit the website and get more info on where they have placed the needles around the city and why! Truly amazing,  Where do you think needles should be placed in ABQ?

    Enjoy!!

    Runs with Roadrunners

I love running around my neighborhood.
It always seems while i'm  running that I always  see something amazing. There are great people and parks and of course the occasional neighborhood band praciting in their garage. The awesome local band Ghost Circles is always a good band to hear while i'm trying to wrap up that last mile of my run.

However, on my run this morning I was pretty stoked to be joined by a roadrunner. He ran next to me for about 30 seconds and then gracefully passed me and went into the bushes. This moment brought a huge smile to my face and it made me appreciate why I call New Mexico home...beep beep sukkahs!!

    Weekend Re-cap

Ever have one of those weekends where you look back and miss it so bad it hurts your heart? Well, that is exactly what I feel about this last weekend. It was amazing and of course it was spent with the ones I love.

Friday I took the day off from work and spent the whole day with my Amore..

I started the weekend off right with this combination....

We then carried on the day by buying a soccer ball and going to Hyder Park for some kick action and some Capoeria practice on the grass.

We spent the rest of the weekend painting our bookcases and doing some gardening in the backyard. Progress from these two projects will be shown on a later blogpost.

We rounded up the weekend with spending time with our moms. We took Pato's mom to the new O'Neill's for dinner so she could she Pato's work and we  gave her a nice bouquet made with love from the COOP.
On Sunday night we suprised my mother with what she wanted for mothers day, a fig tree from Rhem's nursery. She absolutely loved it and her excitement was priceless. We love our moms so much and we are grateful for everything they have done for us.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and a big extra hug to all the Muddah's out there!!

Phil’s Art Direction: That’s the Bradbury story about an android grandmother, isn’t it? A sweet, family tale? Right, so let’s have either a muscle man or a horse on the cover. Better yet, a muscle man who IS a horse. And so ripped, that even his muscles have muscle men on them. On a wraparound cover.
