Friday, Fredag, Viernes, Sexta-Fiera, Petak, Venerdi, 金曜日

The title of this post is the word Friday in English, Swedish/Norwegian, Spanish, Portuguese, Croatian, Italian and Japanese.

I have a bit of a wine hangover, so i'm sorry if this post is a bit random.

First up we have the launch of the Apple Ipad and the jokes that surround the name of the device

photo from

Here are a few of my favorites:

andBegorrah: If you and your friends all buy one, will they sync up?
morninggloria: Can I get a scented iPad for when my data feels not-so-fresh?
NellMood: iPads are for 8th graders. I'm waiting for the iTampon, because I prefer to do all my interneting from inside my vagina.
tremendousnews: So I can say "That chick is on her iPad" and not be called a pig? Thank you Apple.
Trish1981: iPad? Really? All I can say is, I'm sticking with Always, bitches.
Last but not least,
This blog is hilarious! I thought I was the only one who would read Dwell and think...
"Man, these people who own bad ass houses look odd, weird and depressed."

You can come out when you can properly explain the differences between Modernist architecture and postmodern ornamentation. (
Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Etsy Find

Mini Van, Mega Fun!

I absolutely love this print from Kate Gabrielle's Etsy shop. Anyone who knows me knows that I check out mini-vans left and right. The reason I check out mini's is mostly because my handsome El Pato Guapo drives one.  So, this etsy find is a cheer to all you ladies who check out mini-vans and love the men who drive them!!

Sleep Talkin' Man

It's Saturday, I have done little to nothing all day long and loved it!
However, I couldn't wait till Monday to share this hilarious blog I found.
Get ready for quotes for days!!!

--I know when Pato talks in his sleep it usually makes me laugh. Most of the time he is telling me to help him with some construction project or he is singing some vulgar lines from some hip hop song.
So, when  I recently came upon this blog where this lady writes down what her husband says in his sleep.
I seriously could not stop laughing..
Here is a few of my favorites from the sleep talkin' man blog .

"I like the balloons. I want one. If I don't get one, I'm gonna squeeze one out right here, right now.... I warned you!"

[chuckling throughout] "I'm trying not to laugh. But your face! Your face! Oh, please look away. Please?"

"I haven't put on weight. Your eyes are fat."

"My badger's gonna unleash hell on your ass. Badgertastic!"

"Monkey power! Straight from the jungle."

"If I wanted to see a long nose and a big ass, I'd look at a horse."

"I'm baking pillows. Burn them slowly, keeps them fluffy! Mmmmmm, pillows."

[hand tangled in my hair, massaging my scalp] "I'm stuck. I'm stuck. Your pubes! You got to shave."

"Little people are FUNNY... yes, yes, yes...."

"Hey I know you, but I don't like your face. Take it off... That's much better, much better."

"Robots making sweets? But they've got no taste buds! Metal smarties."

"Vegetarians will be the first to go. That's my plan. Vegans haven't got a hope. 'I eat air, I'm so healthy...' Bollocks!"

Put you on my lists!

I've decided to take another visit to the good ol' 2010 resolution vault.

Resolution: Become more organized  at work and at home.

Organization for some people occurs naturally, for bandida it's a pain in the ass. I usually arrive 15 minutes late to everything and I usually lose everything once I've cleaned. However, I know in reality that I do enjoy a clean surface much more than a dirty one. I also tend to stay on budget and on task if I create a list and stick to it. As for the arriving on time thing, that will be a work in progress for life.

So, I've found some cute and handy list to help me start off my resolution. The first is a cute little grocery list from The Ghostly Ferns Blog (click here to download.)

Photos from Ghostly Ferns Blogspot

Last but not least, The Teux Deux List  from

"Teux Deux is a new, free, aesthetically pleasing and browser-based to-do list from the minds behind Swiss Miss and Fictive Kin. Not only is it beautiful, it also seems pretty useful. I say seems, because I’m still just looking at it right now and am not ready to report on its merit from a utilitarian standpoint." --

So, there is my jump start on getting organized in 2010. Of course it is a work in progress, but I thought I would share these list with my amigos out there who also have organization as a resolution for 2010 or if you are just one of those naturally organized people. :-)

Happy Wednesday!

Martin Luther King Day

Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.
Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from goodness on Vimeo.

It was Martin Luther King's Jr. words and movement that inspired me to get involved with the gay rights movement. I could not bare or understand the fact that my friends who are good people and serve their community and country often, would not be allowed the same rights as myself. One day, I hope everyone can fully understand the meaning of Dr. MLK's words and the message behind it.

"It was just as our forefathers had envisioned: that one day people who had
been discriminated against for their religion, or the color of their
skin, could come together to discriminate against people for their
sexual orientation without the slightest sense of irony."-- Wyatt Cenac

Domestically Disabled Post-Mexican Chocolate Cake

Hi, my name is Laura and I'm domestically disabled..

But in 2010 I'm working on switching that around.

So, every other week or weekend I will attempt to either bake or cook some sort of dish. I'm not trying to be the next Julia Child or trying to master the art of shitty fancy food. I'm just trying to make a dish that is edible. We all know that eating out can be expensive, so I figured it was time I gave myself a lesson in making some food.

First up:
Mexican Chocolate Cake

Pato asks: "What makes it Mexican?"
I say: "Well, me of course!"
But actually, what makes it Mexican is the cinnamon and a bit of cayenne pepper that is added. However, I just used cinnamon for this round. I tend to go a little loca on the spicy front and figured I better leave it out this time.

The recipe is very simple and can be made in about an hour.
Here it is: *Make sure you adjust ingredients for altitude when baking this cake click here.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (I used dark chocolate cocoa powder)
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sour milk or orange Juice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 12x18 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda and cinnamon. Add the margarine, oil, water, sour milk, eggs and vanilla, mix until smooth. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
  6. Click here for the vegan option of this recipe.
  9. Orale!! Here it is!

Smiles say "Hey, I can eat this"

Thanks to Pato, Sassy and my family for eating the cake and having seconds!

Next domestically disabled challenge: Hamburger cupcakes!

    Help needed in Haiti

As some of you already know, Haiti was devastated by a 7.0-magnitude earthquake. Thousands are feared dead or are trapped underneath the rubble.  According to Barack Obama on Wednesday is set to launch a "swift, aggressive and coordinated effort to save lives" in the hemisphere's poorest nation.
