Living in the desert you have those days where you just want it to rain!! It's been raining pretty much all weekend and it has felt and smelled amazing. It also does wonders for helping you reach that relaxing deep sleep mode.
But do you want to know one of the most amazing things about the rain this weekend?
It was running in it!
I started my run to a cool breeze, by my second mile it was drizzling, and by my fourth mile I was soaked! The feeling was so amazing and I wasn't the only one enjoying it in my neighborhood. There were several other rain runners too! I guess we were all taking advantage of the cool weather while running. Running in desert heat can really be difficult sometimes.
This week I began training for two races.
The first one will be the Run for the Hills 14th annual run benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
I've always wanted to do this run and this is the year I'm going to do it! It's a 10K run through the foothills and it should be pretty challenging.
The second run is the Duke City Marathon benefiting the New Mexico Cancer Center.
I plan to do my FIRST half-marathon on this day and I plan to run in memory of friends and family who have lost someone to cancer and in support of anyone who is currently supporting someone or suffering from cancer. I will make a donation to the cancer society as well as run with a list of names in honor of those who have lost someone, currently suffering or supporting someone with cancer. You guys are truly my heroes and I'm doing this in your honor!
Please let me know if I can take you with me on my run!
Hi my name is Laura and I'm an anonymous bird watcher.
Yep, it's true, since i've bought my new camera I absolutely love watching and catching photos of the birds that hang around. I've even got Pato taking photos for me of birds that he thinks I might enjoy looking at. I have to admit, one of the main reasons I bought my camera is because it actually has a setting for taking photos of birds. Dorky? Yes. Awesome? Claro que si!
Alright, Phew! I admitted it and now all you lovely readers out there know! Now, I'm not an obsessed bird watcher or anything. I don't know their Latin names or what family of bird they come from. But I do have a lot of fun making up my own names for them (ex: yellow belly buddah bird and finch dirt bath mcgee)
Anyways, if anyone knows the names of these birds please let me know! Here are a few of my favorite photos of birds hanging around our home.
So, I've been aching to get a new pair of shoes for a while.
However, I've been trying to be more frugal and lately I've had hard time paying full price for anything. Yep, that even includes cute adorable Seychelles shoes. So, I've been waiting for months for these shoes to go on sale and they just won't! So I decided to work some search engine magic and came across..
I searched on Bing.com for Endless.com (online shoe store with a great selection) and came up with a 40% cash back promotion. So those $100 dollar shoes I was aching for had finally become affordable!
They do have other deals going on with other stores so just take a look around!
Here is your chance amigo! Act fast though, the deal ends July 30th!!
F.Y.I. read the fine print amigos** you're cash back deal does takes 60 days after purchase to kick in.
I am now a proud owner of these cute adorable platform clogs!!
This weekend was off to a great start with this amazing sunset on Friday evening.
I absolutely fell in love with the sky and it was gone in a matter of minutes. It really makes you take a new appreciation for living in NM. You really do see some amazing beautiful things here in the land of green chile.
Saturday:
Whoa Saturday!! Woke up bright and early and headed to the foothills with my new running crew Sasha and Steve and started our run up hill. We did 3.2 miles in which 2.0 of it was up hill. It was a beautiful run and i'm glad that I have a group friends I can run with now.
During the day we headed to the our neighbors Chuck and Sarah's house for their wedding shower. We got to meet both families and they were absolutely amazing and sweet. We love Chuck and Sarah and we can't wait to attend their wedding in September.
Later on that night I attended my 11 year high school reunion. It was definitely interesting and I actually had a lot of fun. I was able to catch up and hang out with some great people and I'm glad I went.
I was also able to relive winning Prom Queen again with my Prom King Bobby. Hahha not really, but we did try the re-enact the dance outside of the casino.
We ended the weekend at our friend Allen's house who was having a good ol' NM BBQ. We ate hamburgers and headed home early. It was just in time to feel the rain and watch the thunderstorm.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and is off to a great start to the work week!
Yesterday I took $10 and a Trader Joe's shopping bag and walked to the Nob hill Growers Market. While my cell phone streamed Pandora I was caught singing songs by She & Him by neighbors relaxing on their porch. It was a nice walk through the neighborhood and once I got to the growers market I was pleasantly surprised. It was a small growers market, but it was filled with nice people and beautiful looking food. I wish I took more photos, but I was distracted by all the great conversation and nice people.

Nob Hill Growers Market Carrot.
Yes, I put the carrot up to my mouth and said "What's up doc?"
Ever have those days where you wonder..who is really there for me?
My response to this question is always familia.
I think that sometimes we tend to put our families on the back burner to drama and things that just don't really matter.
Sometimes, finding true hope and happiness is just as easy as focusing on the great people who have always been there.
Here are some pretty cool photos that my father had sent me of my mother and him from when they first started dating and when they first got married. I absolutely love them, I especially love their fashion sense. I know that I would have totally borrowed clothes from my mother and not returned them.
Three is a magic number,
Yes it is, it's a magic number.
Somewhere in the ancient, mystic trinity
You get three as a magic number.
The past and the present and the future.
Faith and Hope and Charity,
The heart and the brain and the body
Give you three as a magic number.
It takes three legs to make a tri-pod
Or to make a table stand.
It takes three wheels to make a vehicle
Called a tricycle.
Pato and Justicia 3 years of bliss and adventure!
Yes, it's true... I've been dating my Señor for 3 three years and it's been amazing! I have to say I usually don't ponder these things until they actually sneak up on me. But it's good to take a moment and just say ahhhhh AMORE!
This photo was taken the night that I went too far with the Grey Goose vodka and confessed my high school crush to Patrick J Davis. Thank you Grey Goose!
Here is our cake recipe for 3 years of Amore!
Cake Recipe:
3 gallons of Argentine Wine
2 quarts of camping in a mini-van
1 pint of authentic López Salsa
1/2 a cup of puns and inside jokes
1tbsp of our house always under construction
sprinkle with music from billy holiday and tango electronica
I can not stop yawning at work, it's most likely because this weekend was such a whirl wind of WTF that it probably just has me spinning a bit. All in all it was a good time with friends and family.
Here is the re-cap. This cute roadrunner came was hanging out by our house. We usually have a few neighborhood road runners that hang out during the summer months, but we had not seen very many this year. So of course we were stoked when this guy came around.
They are hamburger cupcakes to be exact and I LOVE THEM!!
This last photo es muy cursi!
My sister also took the family out to eat at a really good downtown restaurant called Cocina Azul. We were celebrating her new job and her first paycheck. So proud of my mana!! We talked to the waitress about Wilco and enjoyed amazing Huevos Rancheros. My brother also surprised us with Andre the Giant stickers from Shepard Fairey. We loved Andre the Giant as a kid, especially when he was in the Princess bride. Ahh memories!
