This time last year...

I boarded a plane to London to go and visit some of my besties across the pond!
We all swam together on our college swim team and became the best of friends.
I truly have days where I miss them terribly, but it doesn't hurt that they live in amazing places around the world, which keeps me motivated to get out of the US and visit them.

Love you guys!

Cheers to amigas here and across the world!!

Map It Out

The past couple of week I've been bombarded with study sessions, paper writing, and midterm exam hell. It comes at no surprise that during the middle of all this hustle & bustle that I decided to take on a D.I.Y. (do it yourself) project with my Señor.
In our home we have an obnoxiously blank wall that only holds an old photo that was given to my sister from her ex boyfriend..Weird right? Needless to say, we needed to do something with that wall and pronto. We had thrown around the idea about buying a map and pinning all the places we had been, but we never could figure out a clever way to actually pull it off.  So, we were stoked to have stumbled upon a clever post on Wit & Whistle about creating an easy to do cork board map.
Thanks you to Amanda over at Wit & Whistle for the brilliant idea!
P.S. Check out her super cute Etsy shop and help her add more pins to her map.

Materials:
Metallic silver map
24x36 cork board
Map tacks
** We did have to cut our map in order for it to fit properly inside the cork board.

cork board pin map
cork boad pin map
cork board pin map

Red Pins: Where the Señor and I have traveled together
Agua Pins: Where I have traveled
Dark/assorted colors: Where the Señor has traveled (he takes up most of the map)

We had tons of fun doing this project, and even discussed where we would like to add more red pins. I would like to add Iceland, Norway and Sweden brrrrr, and he would like to add Barbados, Belize, and Bolivia ahhhhh.
Eventually, we will add pins to the USA, and buy a special color of pins to mark friends and family located around the world.

Have a great weekend!

Music Tuesday--Accordion La Valse d'Amelie

This time last year I couldn't sleep because I was getting super excited about my trip to Europe. Now I can't sleep because school has my mind racing like a hamster wheel, and crappy television is not the cure. It's interesting to look back a year ago and observe how much has changed. Even though I have a sick case of insomnia, I'm very happy where I am in my life right now. I no longer have the job that paid for me to go to Europe, but I do have the great feeling of moving forward towards accomplishing my goals.
Although a lot of change has occurred in the past year one thing remains the same, and that is my love for the Amelie soundtrack by Yann Tiersen. This soundtrack always makes my heart flutter (it was the first movie the Señor and I watched together), and it always helps me chill out when I feel like I'm going 1000mph down hill.  With all the exams and mid-terms filling up my brain space, I've decided to make room for some of my good Euro trip memories. Last year I fell in love with walking on the cobble stone streets London, Paris, and Edinburgh, and the sounds of the music that came up from them. One of my favorite memories was riding on the Paris Metro and hearing the echo of an accordion flow through the tunnels. I never thought I would love the accordion so much, but it truly is a beautiful instrument. It has a sound that has engraved itself in my heart and the happy place in my brain.
Enjoy!

Happy first day of spring everyone. I hope you had a great weekend!
My lovely weekend was spent enjoying the supermoon, and studying for my two day midterm in microbiology...Exciting, right?  Anyways, I hope that you all are enjoying your first day of spring and the weather is lovely where you are.  Here in NM we are experiencing some crazy wind gust and I'm trying hard not to get blown away. Wind in NM is always a for sure sign that spring has arrived, and severe allergies. Ahhhh-choo!!!
On a more positive note, I hope hope you all take the time to stop and smell the flowers, or if blooming flowers haven't entered your forecast it's a good excuse to buy yourself some. :)
Have a great day!

Keep Calm and Leprechaun

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Patrick (Mi Señor) and I are planning to go out to celebrate his saints day, but it looks like our allergies may get the best of us. We hope to hang on to celebrate a little bit, and get a meal of fish and chips in. No corn beef or cabbage for us please.
We wish you all happy cheers and beers!
Have a lucky day!

Thinking of Japan

The devastation in Japan has really clutched my heart. Thank goodness to facebook and email I was able to get a hold of all my friends who are currently living there, and was relieved to find out that they were all alright.  I pray that they remain safe, and that the friends and family they are waiting to hear from in the Sendai area are okay.  If you have friends or family in Japan, my heart and prayers go out to you.

This is a photo sent from my amiga Allison who lives near Sapporo, Japan.
The newscasters are wearing helmets for safety.

Amazing video of the devastation here.

Southwest Sunday ♥

Happy daylight savings time amigos!

I hope you all are adjusting well to the time change. This morning a hot air balloon flying over our home surprisingly awakened us; it was amazing!  It is just one of the many lovely perks about living in beautiful New Mexico, a hot air balloon alarm clock.

In order to keep the love flowing, enjoy this time-lapse video shot in the southwest!

Oh Buddah

Oh, Buddah, You're so right!
Yesterday I was in a foul mood, and I mean it was a gnarly nasty mood.
Now that I look back at it, it wasn't over really anything very serious. However, I managed to let it ruin my day.  Yesterday afternoon I happened to be upset because my foot has taken a turn for the worst, which means I probably won't be running anytime soon.  On top of that, I was fishing for tickets for the band Arcade Fire who are playing up in Santa Fe, only to find out that they were all sold out.  With this sad news all coming at once I slipped into grumpy pants mode and basically stayed there.  I could have had a nice evenings with friends, boyfriend, but decide to let my mood get the best of me.

Even though my bad mood ruined my evening, thankfully this morning I woke up with a great sense of gratitude. I am so grateful for all the wonderful things in my life, and I turned my back on those things when I choose to focus only on the negative.  I may not be able to run, but I know how to swim really well. I may not be able to see Arcade Fire on my birthday, but I can blast their album really loud and dance in my underpants. Today was brought on with a new positive attitude, grateful attitude, a thank god attitude.

I ask you amigos, what are you positive, grateful, and thanking god for?
Have a great weekend!!

Music Tuesday--At the Drive In

My Señor loves this band, and i've grown to really love them as well.
It also doesn't hurt that they're from my parents hometown. :)
Caution: really loud, lots of yelling.  One Armed Scissor
