Beyond the Speedo: The Secret Lives of Public Pool Swimmers
The before and after shots of joggers is a great photo series from Sacha Goldberger in Paris, France. He had stopped joggers in a park and asked them if they would sprint for him and then pose right after for his camera. The photographer then asked these same people to come into his professional studio exactly one week later. Using the same exact lighting he asked them to pose the same way they had before. The result is brilliant.
The next photo series was done by Judy Starkman of Los Angeles. I particularly liked this series, because as a young swimmer I had a hard time recognizing people outside of their swimmer gear. It's like we lead these crazy secret lives outside of the pool. This photo series pretty much captures that idea.
From Good Culture:
A lifelong swimmer, Starkman is a habitué of the Culver City Plunge pool, where she noticed the daily metamorphosis that her fellow swimmers underwent upon arriving at the pool. Starkman decided to photograph the individuals that compose her pool community, once in their swimwear and then again dressed for their "secret lives" at work, synagogue, or family time.
I love this SO much!!!
